01.04.2024 La Chola Poblete was awarded a Special Mention during the Official Awards at the Venice Biennale 2024 for her participation in the main exhibition “Stranieri Ovunque” (Strangers Everywhere) curated by Adriano Pedrosa. The Biennale stated: “She engages in critical play with histories of colonial representation from a trans Indigenous perspective. Her multivalent art –including watercolour, fabric, and photography– resists the exoticisation of Indigenous women while she insists on the power of sexuality.”
30.03.2024 La Chola Poblete is one of the artists invited to be part of the 60 International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale curated by Adriano Pedrosa. The Biennale will take place from April 20 to November 24, 2024 under the title “Stranieri Ovunque” (Strangers Everywhere). La Chola presents a series of representations of the Virgin Mary produced with watercolors between 2023 and 2024, their compositions complement the figures with a combination of Andean symbolism and pop iconography.
