Nani Lamarque (Buenos Aires, 1985) takes as his reference the propaganda leaflets and symbols of the government policies of the last 10 years: the phenomenon that is known in Argentina as the Kirchnerist “decade gained” in which, among other things, there has been a growing militancy in young and middle class citizens. Lamarque distorts statements, takes into his own hands campaign posters and translates party anthems. He produces a collection which could only be likened to party paraphernalia by making use of forms that recall minimalist structures and pop silkscreen prints of the ’60s. In her installations, he resorts to the suffocating atmosphere of institutionality, he injects tension in the messages and seeks ambiguity when it comes to taking a stand. He also wonders about the space occupied by the artist and contemporary art in politics.
One of the most significant of her recent projects is Frente en Alto (La Ene, Nuevo Museo Energía de Arte Contemporáneo, 2013).
22.07.2017 The body without organs (BwO) is something that can be constructed, fabricated according to an excercise of experimentation that consists in taking our body and opening it to a countless number of potential connections. It is possible to approach Martín Legón’s “Nuevos pensamientos imbéciles” with this deleuzian notion in mind. Because what is exhibited in Barro is the skeleton of a body (of art) without organs. An unique body, dismembered, presented in rigid strucutres and shapeless forms as if it were an art fair.
